According to experts on mine clearance in Lugansk and Donetsk regions will take at least 10-15 years.
As stated in the Ministry of defense, landmines and explosive remnants of war to date is dotted with about 7 thousand square kilometers in Ukraine-controlled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
To clear at the moment was only about 25 hectares of agricultural land, 70 hectares of water area, 1152 km by road and 712 km of Railways.
“If the cost of the mines ranges from 3 to 30 dollars at its disposal need to spend 300-1000 dollars. For example, in Croatia the mine action programme for 2009-2019 will be used by 550 million euros, including contributions from international donors,” noted the authors.
Ukraine for full clearance of Donbass will require more than one billion dollars. Willingness to support Ukraine, said NATO, EU, OSCE, UN, Geneva international centre for humanitarian demining, as well as a separate state.
