Although the development of artificial intelligence (AI) was carried out for decades, only in recent years this technology has become widespread. But the more artificial intelligence POPs up in the news, the more myths and misconceptions about it appears. Try to consider and debunk the most common of them.
Myth # 1: AI just another name for robotics
One of the most common misconceptions about artificial intelligence says that this is just a more complex term to define robotics. Many people, when thinking about AI, imagine a humanoid robot that performs some kind of human work. It is an error. Artificial intelligence and robotics – a completely different concept, which can be in no way connected with each other.

As research in the field of AI is becoming more serious, as the technology penetrates into new areas of life, many of users begins to form the illusion that the AI is able to act and develop independently. This is not so. The work of artificial intelligence requires human intervention.
Some processes in AI indeed can be automated. For example, personalized recommendations music services. But when it comes to such things as making critical decisions in medicine, people are still important. David Kenny, first Vice-President of IBM, claims that technology cannot replace humans in those areas which require human intuition or moral assessment.
Myth # 3: the AI will select the person work
Many people fear that the spread of AI will cause massive unemployment. But, as already mentioned, in some areas, artificial intelligence is not yet able to replace humans. The easiest example is the smartphone voice assistants that help people in everyday life.
Myth # 5: AI takes over the world
