Lucid Motors plans to start production of Air in 2018.
Chinese-American company Lucid Motors experienced their Lucid Air electric car on the track.
A modified model of the sedan was able to accelerate up to 235 miles per hour, that is up to 378 km/h.
For this the company had to make several changes in the design and disable the software rate limiter. For comparison, the maximum claimed speed of Tesla Model S in the most expensive modifications P100D is about 250 km/h.
For the sake of reducing the weight of the electric vehicle from the interior removed many elements, including the rear seats. It was also decided to strengthen the cooling of the front motor and add in the equipment of a special parachute.
Sedan Lucid Air is equipped with two electric motors with total capacity of 1000 HP, which it dispersed to 96 km/h in 2.5 seconds. Set of 100 kWh battery provides a cruising range of 480 km, the basic version of Lucid Air electric car will cost $52,500. Lucid Motors plans to start production of Air in 2018.
