In the final of a clay tournament in Båstad Dolgopolov have met with the experienced Spaniard David Ferrer. In personal meetings, a native of Valencia led with a score of 9:4, but on the ground the Ukrainian won each of three matches.
At the start of the match, Dolgopolov had a chance to break away, but Alexander in the second game failed to convert four break points. With the score 4:4 Ferrer made the break, and in the next game filed for Seth.
The defeat in the first game was a big blow for Dolgopolov. Only when the score was 1:5 Ukrainians managed to remind myself: Alexander played two match-balls, then took one back break. Dolgopolov was able to even the score, but Ferrer on his serve with the seventh match ball still made the final.
