British researchers observed nearly 4 000 people within 25 years. They found that even moderate drinking, for the entire half glass of wine a week causes premature aging of the circulatory system. As suggested by science, alcohol activates enzymes that have a negative impact on the degree of elasticity of artery walls, reducing their conductivity and impeding blood flow.

The researchers measured how quickly artificial wave pulse pass through the main arteries in the neck and thighs of the volunteers. The higher the rate, the stiffer arteries are. Then, the resulting information was compared with data on the level of the used alcoholic beverages volunteers. Note that cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death of inhabitants of our planet.
