Israeli scientists have proven that the benefits of the bread depends on the variety – white or whole wheat.
A study published in the publication Cell Metabolism.
“We believed that whole wheat bread is better for human health and is a healthy product, but to our great surprise, we did not observe any difference between the influence of two types of baking on the human body,” explained Professor Eran Segal.
The researchers compared the effects on health of white bread industrial production, which is considered the most harmful, and homemade whole wheat, which is called the most useful.
Scientists took a group of 20 people and divided into two parts ten. The first ten volunteers during the week, consumed only white bread from the store. The other group ate only homemade wholegrain.
The bread should be a significant part of the diet of the volunteers of both groups to the results of the experiment were revealing.
Then the participants made a two-week break, after which the group changed.
During the experiment, scientists noticed that the level of sugar and cholesterol in the blood, liver and intestinal flora, weight gain was associated with overall consumption of bread and not dependent on white spruce or whole wheat.
