Doctors called another useful property of milk

People who since childhood regularly drink milk, stay in better physical shape into old age

Scientists at Bristol University found that elderly people who consume large quantities of milk and dairy products in childhood go faster in old age and less likely to fall.

That is, roughly speaking, they are tighter on the legs and so they have a lower risk of extremity fractures in the elderly.

Falling is a serious problem in old age: one in three over the age of 65 years at least 1 every year falls with serious consequences for health.

One of the most common of these is hip fracture, which often occurs due to osteoporosis.

The researchers examined the medical records of 400 men and women aged 65 to 85 years.

They all took part in the study, which began in 1930-ies to analyze the impact of their diet and lifestyle on health in the long term.

In the study, volunteers who were then children, leaving doctors data on consumption of milk and dairy products.

To check whether this had any impact on their health in old age, the volunteers staged a test on the ability to walk quickly.

The results showed that fans of milk faster I go and harder keep up. According to doctors, it should encourage modern parents to teach their children to regularly consume the milk.
