The search for the sunken ruins was conducted in 2010.
The ruins of the city extend for 20 hectares and is located near nebula in the North-East of Tunisia. Neapolis was founded in the fifth century BC. Its name in Greek means “New city”. Historians believe that part of the city disappeared during the earthquake consisted of two shocks with a maximum magnitude of eight points. After the disaster, some parts of the island of Crete moved on 10 meters.
The search for the sunken ruins was conducted in 2010. According to Munira Pantera (Mounir Fantar), the leader of the expedition, the discovery allows scientists to claim with confidence that the city was one of the malls of Ancient Rome, which made garum and salted fish.
