Denmark and Lithuania opposed the construction of the Nord stream-2

In foreign countries believe that the project will increase Europe’s dependence on Russian gas.

Denmark and Lithuania are going to influence the European Commission for a stricter attitude to the project Nord stream-2. On Tuesday, September 26, said the head of Lithuanian foreign Ministry Linas Linkevičius, on a joint Danish counterpart Anders Samuelsen a press conference in Vilnius.

So, the foreign Ministers of the two countries criticized plans to expand the Nord Stream pipeline laid under the Baltic sea between Russia and Germany. Lithuania and Denmark believe that the project will increase Europe’s dependence on Russian gas and a blow to Ukraine as a country-gas transit country.

“We will adjust our arguments to really have an impact, because the position clear, the political setting made more than once,” said Linkevičius.

Note that participants in the Nord Stream project 2 aim to ensure that the pipeline passed along the bottom of the Baltic sea and before getting to Germany was crossing the territorial waters of Denmark.

The Danish government claims that it has received such a request and evaluates it, but at the same time is preparing a bill that would block the pipeline for reasons of domestic policy and external security.

At the same time, Denmark unilaterally not going to boycott the whole project and try to influence the European Commission.
