“Credit prison”: a London court has allowed Ukraine to appeal

The court suspended the decision to pay the “debt” of Russia.

The high Court in London has allowed Ukraine to appeal and suspended its decision on the payment of Russia’s debt to 3 billion dollars.

About it reports a press-service of the Ministry of Finance.

“The judge granted the request of Ukraine on appeal to the court of Appeal and has provided Ukraine with total permission to appeal on all issues,” – said in it.

The judge also granted the petition of Ukraine on the temporary suspension of the execution of the decision.

According to the report, 29 March, London’s High Court decided concerning the application for examination of the case in summary procedure the claim of the Trustee Law Debenture Trust Corporation filed at the direction of Russia against Ukraine, on Euro bonds in the amount of 3 mlrda dollars.

The decision was made according to the results of the hearings, sostoyavshiysya from 17 to 19 January 2017.

The judge gave the decision, which the parties received for the first time only at the hearing today. In the next few days the Ukrainian side will read the full text of the decision in detail and will analyse its implications with your team of legal advisers.

“It is important that the English court recognized the wrongful and egregious acts committed by the aggressor state against Ukraine and its people”, – noted in the Ministry of Finance.

Earlier it was reported that London’s High court on March 29 decided to consider the claim of Russia to Ukraine in the case of Eurobonds for $3 billion in accelerated mode, as requested by Russia. The Ministry of Finance announced that the court ordered Ukraine to repay Eurobonds and pay interest.

Ukraine owes Russia $3 billion on the controversial bonds that were issued in late 2013 as part of the aid regime of Viktor Yanukovych in exchange for giving up the Association with the EU. Russian President Vladimir Putin promised Yanukovych $15 billion, but because of Euromaidan gave only $3 billion.
