Created a prototype liquid “Terminator”

Liquid metal has the potential for use in electronics and the so-called “soft” robotics.

Researchers from China have developed a steady drip of liquid metal, which can later become the basis for robots of the new type.

Such devices in appearance will resemble a liquid terminator, hero of the eponymous film by James Cameron.

Liquid metal has the potential for use in electronics and the so-called “soft” robotics. The main problem in the creation of such metal is that it becomes quite sticky due to the formation of droplets on the surface of a thin layer of oxides.

However, scientists were able to solve this difficulty, they found this method, which can change the properties of the drops. At the end of the scientific work they have created the elastic metal balls that do not stick to the surface.
