Black holes are science of great interest.
Thursday June 15, China launched its first space x-ray telescope for observing black holes, pulsars and gamma ray bursts.
The 2.5-tonne x-ray telescope Insight was launched into orbit with altitude of 550 kilometers.
First, China’s apparatus of this type put into orbit by carrier rocket Changzheng – 4B launched from the Jiuquan spaceport in the Gobi desert in Northwest China.
It is assumed that thanks to him, Chinese scientists can trace the evolution of magnetic fields, to study in detail gravitational waves, learn how to use pulsars for purposes of space navigation. The scientists also hope to find gamma-ray bursts, corresponding to gravitational waves.
“Black holes are for the science of great interest and therefore will be Central to our research activities”, – said the Director of the laboratory for astrophysical measurements of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Zhang Xuannan.
