China Thursday, April 20, launched the first cargo spacecraft “celestial ship-1” (“Tanjou-1”). The live broadcast was conducted on YouTube.
The launch of the carrier rocket “long March 7” (“Changzheng-7”) with the spacecraft occurred at 19:41 local time (14:41 MSK) from the spaceport Wenchang in Hainan province. On Board the truck were more than five tons of cargo, including fuel and other supplies to the space laboratory “heavenly Palace — 2” (“the Tiangong-2”).
Laboratory “heavenly Palace 2” became the model for validation of life-support technologies for future multi-module Chinese space station. The main tasks of the laboratory are the reception manned and cargo space vehicles, and testing medium-term finding of astronauts in orbit, refueling, and conducting a number of scientific and applied experiments.
