The provisions of article 48 of the law regulates the issues of compensatory payments, in particular in connection with the loss of a breadwinner.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law 5297 “On amendments to article 48 of the law “On status and social protection of citizens which suffered owing to Chernobyl catastrophe”. The adoption of the law was supported by 243 MPs.
Adoption of law will allow to return the right to receive annual assistance for rehabilitation of the evacuees from the exclusion zone in 1986 and children who have lost owing to Chernobyl accident of one of parents, and to ensure adequate social protection for this category of persons.
According to the law, the lump-sum compensation is paid to participants of liquidation of consequences of Chernobyl accident, who became invalids owing to Chernobyl accident, participants of liquidation of consequences of nuclear accidents, the individuals who participated in nuclear tests, military exercises involving nuclear weapons, build nuclear weapons and implementing them regular work who become disabled as a result of the respective nuclear accidents and tests, participation in military exercises involving nuclear weapons, build nuclear weapons and implementing them regular work, wives (husbands), if she (he) has not married a second time, dead citizens, whose death is related to Chernobyl catastrophe, participation in liquidation of consequences of nuclear accidents, nuclear tests, military exercises involving nuclear weapons, build nuclear weapons and implementing them regular work, families, survivors, and parents of the deceased among the persons related to the participants of liquidation of consequences of Chernobyl accident and whose death is related to Chernobyl disaster, children with disabilities, the disabilities connected with the Chernobyl disaster.
