The Chernobyl nuclear power plant (NPP) has announced a tender to select a contractor for the dismantling of the old sarcophagus over the destroyed fourth power unit. This is evidenced by the announcement of the company in the ProZorro.
The cost of procurement is estimated at 4.29 million UAH including VAT. The amount of security tender offers – 2 million UAH.
The auction will last until August 28. Applications for participation in the tender are accepted till July 23. It is planned that the works under the project will be completed before the end of 2027.
Previously, the sarcophagus over Chernobyl was covered by a sealed membrane to minimize the emissions of radionuclides from radioactively contaminated inner space in the environment.
We will remind, in November 2016 the Chernobyl reactor covered the new sarcophagus. The new safe confinement is the most movable structure in the world, which is equipped with unique technology and systems. The height of the arch is equal to 110 m, length – 150 m, a width of 260 m and a weight of more than 31 thousand tons. Authorities claim that the new building will last 100 years.
