Carbon dioxide emissions on the planet rose to a historic high

In 2018 the Earth’s atmosphere hit the highest amount of carbon dioxide since the industrial era.

For 2018, CO2 emissions increased by 560 million tons to more than 33 billion tons. The reason was the increasing demand for energy.

Studies show that 85% of the increase in emissions had on China, India and the United States. While in some countries, emissions have decreased. In including Germany, Japan, Mexico, France and the UK.

The head of the IEA’s Fatih Birol claims that “the extraordinary growth in world demand for energy” took many by surprise. The expert notes that in 2019, such growth is not expected.
