Canadian experts have registered smokers volunteers in the Run to Quit program, which is designed for 10 weeks. The program included advice on the run, Smoking cessation, walking outdoors or running (the ultimate goal is to run five kilometers) and a telephone advice hotline for those wishing to quit Smoking.
The results showed that 91% of participants were Smoking less, and 37 volunteers have been able to quit Smoking. This was confirmed by the test on carbon monoxide. The participants have not started Smoking again and about six months later. During participation in the program the average level of carbon monoxide in the body of volunteers fell by about a third.

Interestingly, the level of psychological stress among cigarette smokers were 178% higher in comparison with those who did not smoke. Whereas, getting rid of this habit, the mental health status of participants improved significantly. Also decreased the risk of sleep problems, lack of motivation, overeating, angry outbursts at home.
