Fans of Tom cruise and Russell Crowe must be quite puzzled – or just left in the USA. Indeed, “the Mummy” at the start of the rental took only the second place of the top, unable to even come close to approaching the comic book “Wonder woman”. What’s worse – the film, whose budget is between 125 (the official) to 190 (according to non-official) of millions of dollars, has collected in the opening 32 a little more than “millions”. Definitely “the Mummy” will not collect in the U.S. and a hundred million that casts doubt on the payback period – the only hope for international distribution.
Than it can be fraught? Problems in Dark Universe, dark movie-monsters of the universe, the beginning of which should be “Mummy”. A number of projects already in production, the contracts were signed, but if all these multi-million dollar blockbusters will be as successful as “the Mummy” good – bye, monsters.
How to explain the failure of “the Mummy”? We don’t know. Maybe American audiences are just tired of blockbusters?
