BMW is preparing to manufacture a 2 Series Gran Coupé

The Gran Coupé will be available with either front-or all-wheel drive.

The range of compact models of the BMW 2 series will soon be replenished with another strictly a niche product that will be focused on competition with the Audi A3 Sedan and Mercedes-Benz A-Klasse Sedan / CLA. The novelty will receive the name of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé and factory designation F44, to the same features promise to seriously please.

The UKL platform, which uses the German automaker for the production of minivans 2 series and the “Junior” from line crossovers, the X1, will be adapted for the emergence of the Gran Coupé.

Front-wheel-drive truck will form the basis as the basic standard versions, and “charged” M-modification of a motor about 300 horses. The car will be comparable to a BMW 3 Series in body E46.

It is expected that this modification will get the name of the M235i (or M240i) Gran Coupé and will be supplied by BMW B48 engine, which will boast torque of 400 Nm, which is transferred to all four wheels through the xDrive drivetrain.

The others, less sporty version, you will get a wide range of motors, from 3-cylinder 1.5-liter and 2.0-microfiction 4-cylinder. Contrary to expectations, the Gran Coupé will be available with either front-or all-wheel drive.

Date and venue of the premiere of the presentation yet is secret. However, the appearance of the production version of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé can be expected next year. Then the same will be known and the prices for a novelty.

At the moment the BMW has a fairly broad range of cars with the prefix “Gran Coupé” – to existing 6 and 4 will soon be added, except the heroine of the article, and even 8 Series Gran Coupé, which is already being tested.
