The DPRK foreign Ministry informed the Embassy of Malaysia, Malaysian citizens who are in the country temporarily prohibited to leave the territory of the DPRK.
Prime Minister Najib Razak called an emergency meeting of the security Council of the country because of the ban Pyongyang Malaysian citizens on departure from the DPRK.
“I called an emergency meeting of the national security Council”, – quotes RIA Novosti statement by Razak.
He also urged Pyongyang immediately to allow Malaysian citizens to leave the country to avoid further escalation, calling the DPRK’s actions “disgusting” and that the DPRK Malaysians “hostages”.
According to the Prime Minister, he also ordered the police chief not to let the citizens of North Korea, while Malaysia is “not convinced of the safety of Malaysians in North Korea”.
Malaysian police cordoned off the DPRK Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
“We’re trying to identify all of the Embassy staff, who are here,” said Deputy Minister of internal Affairs of Malaysia.
Tensions between the DPRK and Malaysia came after the murder on Malaysian territory, Kim Jong Nam, the elder brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN.
