Old pontoon ferry across the Dry estuary, which is part of the route Odessa — the Black sea, is planning to replace the new bridge. The life of the structure comes to an end.
Preparation works began last year, but due to problems with financing the construction was suspended. Now, however, officials managed to partially solve the financial issue. According to the mayor of the Black sea Valery Hmelnyuk, the project supported the Cabinet. “On account of the city Council received 57 million UAH, intended to continue construction of the bridge,” said Hmelnyuk.
However, according to the estimates of officials, only need of 131.6 million. According to assistant Deputy mayor who oversees the building, Lydia Zaporozhchenko, in addition to the tranche from the state budget, another 13.4 million UAH allocated from the city Treasury, and 2.4 million went into the preparation of the documentation and of the project. Costs justify the poor condition of the crossing, because for the last couple of years, says Zaporozhchenko, to repair it was allocated about UAH 8 million.
“According to the documentation, after two years, ends its term of operation,” says Zaporozhchenko, adding that the overhaul of a ferry need about 40 million UAH. In addition, the pontoon is impossible to drive trucks weighing more than 20 t. “Close to the port, so this restriction is violated, that is unsafe,” he explained to us Zaporozhchenko.
Thus, the bridge needs to solve several problems at once. Now officials are counting on the support of the Odessa regional state administration and ready to get to work. MOVED THE OPENING
Meanwhile, the opening of the renovated another important overpass for the Odessa region — the bridge near the village of Palanca on the highway Odessa — Reni — postponed. “Issues have arisen during the performance of work — started to sink the ground”, — explained in the regional state administration and called the new deadline is 1 November.
