Spain has sent Belgium a warrant for the arrest Pokdemon and his advisers

The judge of the National court of Spain Carmen Lamela on Friday sent the Belgian authorities a warrant for the arrest of the former chief of Catalonia Carles Pokdemon and his four advisers, who are based in Belgium and who earlier this week was not on the agenda in the Spanish court.

The warrant said that in Spain they are charged with rebellion, disobedience to authorities and embezzlement of public funds.

Earlier on Friday, Putteman gave an interview to the Belgian television in which he said about the readiness to have a discussion with the Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy. He said that he is not the first Catalan leader, “who had problems with the Spanish government.”

However, in an interview with Pujdeme noted that it does not regard itself as a victim. “The majority of the Catalan population, which expressed its will, is a real sacrifice,” said ousted leader of Catalonia.

Stay in Belgium, he explained that he wants to face “real justice”, that is Belgian, not Spanish. According to him, he left Spain in order to prepare his defence in court.

Another reason for the departure from his country, he claims, was a desire to avoid escalation of violence. “Violence never entered in our plans”, – assured the displaced head of the Catalan government.

Pujdeme stressed that he did not intend to involve Belgium in Catalan politics, and said that he had not met with anyone from the Belgian leaders.

He also said it is ready to nominate his candidacy for the Catalan elections on 21 December, even though it will have to do from abroad.
