Recall, January 17, 2017, the state office of public Prosecutor received a copy of the statement of Yanukovych with a request to send troops to Ukraine. We are talking about the document that was read in the UN permanent representative Vitaly Churkin. Earlier, the press Secretary of Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin had not received an official letter from Yanukovych with a request to send troops. And the Russian Prosecutor General’s office stated that no such letter exists. However, later, the Russian foreign Ministry admitted that Yanukovych asked Putin to send troops, but stated that it was “not a letter, and statement.”

GPU transmitted the document to the charge against Yanukovych and the March 14 indictment was submitted to the court. Yanukovych is accused that on March 1, 2014, staying on the territory of the Russian Federation, he committed treason by submitting a written statement to the President of the Russian Federation with a request to use Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine. This subsequently led to the loss of the Crimea and Ukraine of objects of state property amounting to more than 1,080 trillion hryvnia.
