The train is called “train low-cost airline”.
On 28 September we will start the movement of the train, which will connect Kiev, Minsk, Vilnius and Riga.
This was stated by Minister of infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian today, July 17 in Ukraine by results of work of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Lithuanian Commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation.
“Last year’s agenda, which was agreed in Lithuania, gave a result this year. We have a train of four capitals (Riga-Vilnius-Minsk-Kiev), which starts on September 28 from Kiev”, – said the Minister.
Note that it was originally planned that the train will go into the capital of Estonia – Tallinn. In 2017, the project was called “train the five capitals.” In the us, in General, such plans do not refuse, and also stated that the price of train tickets needs to be two times smaller than the corresponding flights. “Now the price of a ticket to the Baltic States is 2500-3000 UAH. In our opinion, the price of the train must be in two times cheaper so we can compete,” – said in February the head of “Railways” Evgeny Kravtsov.
In April, the Deputy Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Yuriy Lavrenyuk informed that the cost of a ticket in a compartment car in Riga will be about 1855 UAH (€59), and called the next train “train Locosto”.
