More than 120 thousand Jews and people with Jewish roots living in Ukraine today.
Ukraine is home to more than 120 thousand Jews and individuals with Jewish family roots, said the Vice-Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko during the opening of the Kiev Jewish forum on 6 may.
Rozenko noted that Ukrainians and Jews from time immemorial have lived on this earth, and the Jewish community in Ukraine, its culture, its heritage is extremely valuable for the country.
“According to our estimates, more than 120 thousand Jews and people with Jewish roots living in Ukraine today. And of course, that one of the priorities of the Ukrainian state is providing representatives of all ethnic groups and communities with all the necessary conditions for their development”, – said Rozenko.
In particular, according to Rozenko, it concerns the sphere of education for the various ethnic groups in Ukraine. “Today, we are proud to have the opportunity in secondary schools to study the history, language and culture. More than 70 classrooms in Ukraine can receive education in their native language in secondary schools”, he added.
