Housing was in disrepair for 10 years. The architects RSAA rebuilt an old house in a remote Chinese village and turned it into a comfortable home.
This small house, located on the top of the mountain was in ruins within 10 years. The architects had to restore the building and make it habitable.
First and foremost, they expanded the space by adding new “twists”. From several sides of the house had already been opened to the nature thanks to its sleek forms, and the authors of the project decided to add another wing on the West side to be closer to the textured mountain, and South to increase living space.
Then they combined the traditional roof with this streamlined space and covered it with gray tiles, unique shape, which visually connects the house with the Chinese village. The atrium between the two parts of the house that was once a strictly domestic space, now turned into a pretty courtyard under the open sky.
