Russia is preparing another ban, this time best 99% of the citizens of the country. We are talking about banning sales of SIM cards without passports — the bill will be approved during the current parliamentary session until the end of next month.
A law banning sales of SIM cards without the passport data will come into force on 1 January 2018, and that, on the one hand, it may seem next stage in the development of a comprehensive surveillance of the Russians, but the reality is much more interesting. In fact, the vast majority of people in the country draw up a SIM card during purchase, and only a nasty spammers use SIM purchased without presentation of documents. By the way, the authorities explain that the struggle against terrorism, but in this context it’s like fighting windmills — methods are not those of the terrorists have to Unscrew the head and impale in public, and not SIM cards to take away.
So, what will a ban on the sale of SIM cards without passports? In particular, after the law comes into force on any promotional SMS from an unknown number, you can write a complaint to the operator or to the police, and the sender would be found and punished. There is only one thing: new laws in Russia are almost never enforced and regularly do, again, by legal means.
