Scientists told about who lived in prehistoric Indonesia “the hobbit”.
A rather unusual study was provided by Australian scientists yesterday. According to them the person actually met the hobbits. So called mysterious people who lived on the Indonesian island of Flores. The growth of these creatures were not more than a meter, though in many ways resembled people.
“We have come to believe that the new date for the appearance of people in Indonesia should be the date in 73 thousand years ago. Another argument in favor of this was a study we did recently. Our group considered the question of when man left Africa. The early date of the Exodus is all the more the world seems to be unreliable, because a mismatch of genetic data is one of the most serious evidence,” said Kira Westaway, who heads a group of scientists from the Institute of archaeology and palaeontology of Sydney.
The remains of the above “hobbits” were found in cave of Liang Bua, located on one of the Indonesian Islands Florence in 2003. The public showed in 2004. His discovery then, scientists announced the discovery of a fundamentally new species, named Homo floresiensis.
Found out that their low height is due to the phenomenon of island dwarfism. Over millions of years of total isolation these ancient people gradually degenerated and became “hobbit”, whose brain was several times smaller than modern Homo sapiens.
