The Earth has always had two natural satellite – the well-known Moon and the second mini-asteroid, which over many millions of years circling around the planet.
The study’s authors was Robert Judice of the University of Hawaii and Jeremy Faubion of the Paris Observatory. Simulations showed that while many of the asteroids remain in orbit up to nine months, and then continue his usual rotation around the Sun, one object never leaves its orbit around the planet.
Scientists have named the mini-asteroid second moon, but its size does not exceed one meter in diameter. For specialists it is of great interest in view of the fact that one can fall to the Ground, causing scientists will receive a sample of material, which have changed little since the formation of the Solar system.Go to the Main page
