From 25 to 29 November for the first time in Kiev will be brought for veneration by the faithful in the ark with the relics and the outstanding staff of the devotee and the restorer of the Orthodox eldership of the venerable Paisius Velichkovsky (1722 – 1794).
As reported on the website of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, the offering shrines of Novo-nemeckogo stavropegic monastery is organized with the blessing of his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufriy, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the day of memory venerable. Paisius Velichkovsky (28 November) and to celebrate the 295th anniversary of his birth.
Solemn meeting of the relics will take place on 25 November at 16.00 at the main Holy gates of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, after which the relics will be transferred to the Refectory Church in honor of venerable Anthony and Theodosius of the caves.
From November 26 to access the shrines for public worship to be opened in Holy cross Church, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Here the Shrine will stay until November 29.
November 28, the day of memory venerable. Paisius Velichkovsky, in Holy cross Church, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra from 6.30 to 8.30 will be made a festive Liturgy.
The offering shrines is organized by the international Institute of the Athonite heritage (MIAN) in the framework of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra 27 – 28 November 2017 International conference “Kiev Paziewski readings” dedicated to the 295th anniversary of the birthday of the PDP. Paisius Velichkovsky.
***Saint Paisius Velichkovsky (1722 – 1794) – a prominent Orthodox ascetic and the elder, whose efforts have restored the Orthodox elders in Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Romania and other countries.
His followers have been founded by the famous Optina and Glinsky desert, resumed and Nemecka Svyatogorsk Lavra, Valaam monastery and many others.
On mount Athos elder paisios was founded by St. Elijah’s monastery. Coming from a sort of Cossack priests from Poltava, his initial spiritual formation it took place in the Kiev theological Academy and of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Through the efforts of elder Paisius was first translated into Slavonic dobrotolyubie, and other patristic creation.
After 1743, the PDP. Paisius Velichkovsky left Kiev and Ukraine, he never returned to his native land. The bringing of the ark with the relics of venerable. Paisius in Kiev in the year of the 295th anniversary of his birth is performed for the first time.
