“Architecture animals”: some houses are built different representatives of fauna. Photo

The work of the German photographer.

German photographer Ingo Arndt in her book “animal Architecture” illustrated how animals and insects around the world build amazing structure and form of the dwelling. Here are the most creative of them.

Termite “Spinifex” – the Northern territory of Australia

Tower Australian termites reach almost seven feet in height and are a striking example of the architecture of animals. In each tower can accommodate two to three million termites. Chewing the grass spinifex together with thorns and the particles of the earth, the termites digest it, resulting in material for dwellings, which hardens like clay.

Gastropod mollusk in tropical and subtropical ocean floor

The shell of these mollusks serves as a base, which is attached to rocks, shells of other mollusks, needle sea urchins, pieces of coral and sand. All this is additional protection from predators.

Ants-weavers – Northern territory, Australia

For the construction of their nests ants-weavers use powerful jaws with which they cut the leaves, and then fasten them with silk threads produced by their larvae.

Vogelli besedky salasnik – Western Guinea, Indonesia

To attract a female, males besedovala of salasnich build such huts from the branches, decorating them with flowers, fruits, mushrooms, and even trash.

European red forest ant – Hesse, Germany

These ants with a length of one centimeter can build houses with a height of almost two meters. The materials of these ant “skyscrapers” are adjacent to each other so tightly that there can’t leak water.

The compass termites in Australia

The compass termites can build flat, three-meter towers, which are located strictly from North to South. Designs also have a ventilation system to maintain a constant level of temperature inside.

Tkacik Bahia Namibia

A little bird builds a nest of long, plucked, flexible blades of grass. The sun dries out the grass, so that they harden, making nests in sturdy structures, which can only be accessed through a hole at the bottom.

Ordinary Remez – Europe and Asia

Remez males build their nests from spider webs, seeds, wool and plant fibers, to lure the female, which lays inside of five to eight eggs.

OSA – everywhere

Despite the fact that OSU can be found in any corner of the world, this insect also deserves attention. Its pulp-and-paper house is made from recycled, weathered wood.
