Apple Saved: what you can and cannot do

One of the most important Christian holidays.

August 19, 2017 is celebrated Apple spas (the Savior), or the Transfiguration of the Lord. It symbolizes the end of summer and the cold.

According to tradition, the feast day of Apple Spas Orthodox Christians starts early in the morning in the Church.

This day is Holy to the Church, not only apples, but other fruits: vegetables and fruits. Ukrainians traditionally sanctify pears, grapes, plums, peaches, vegetables, including tomatoes and carrots, as well as honey, rye and wheat.

The meaning of the holiday

The Savior is celebrated in honor of the Transfiguration. On this day, in the Christian view, Jesus and his disciples went up to mount Tabor. There the Son of God began to pray, and almost immediately transformed. His clothes were white and his face shone the divine light.

What you can and cannot do to save Apple

In ancient times it was believed that this day can not eat apples until they are consecrated in the Church. There are cruel popular belief – if a family’s child died, and his mother ate apples at the Apple of the Savior, he will not get the fairing in that light.

Also on Savior of the Apple you can’t do any work around the house, in particular, to sew. Ukrainian proverb says: who is the Savior of the sew – until the end of days tears pouring.

Apple Spas falls on the Dormition fast, so if you decide to follow it, then you need to eat accordingly.

Should this day take the kids out for the poor and sick people, the more apples will give – the more kind and generous to you God.

On Apple Spas not kill insects. They say that if a fly sat on the arm twice, the whole year you will have good luck. It is important to the insect not to drive and wait until it flies away.

There is a sign that the wish made before you take a bite of the Apple, will come true.
