Apple plans to start manufacturing smartphones in India

Apple is planning in the coming months to start building a 4-inch iPhone SE factory in Bangalore.

This year the market will be smartphones, on the back panel which will be an inscription “Made in India”.

The source said that the Taiwanese partner of the California giant Wistron will deal exclusively with assembling iPhones in Bangalore. Previously, Apple succeeded with the permission of the Indian state of Karnataka to manufacture their smartphones in this city.

It was initially reported that Apple plans to build 300-400 thousand iPhone SE in India. However, as noted by Reuters, the numbers can be much lower.

Meanwhile, the government of India recognizes that is talks with Apple on the topic of other types of potential cooperation, without going into details. According to sources, the authorities want to in India were not only iPhone, but also a variety of accessories for a smartphone that should have a positive impact on the economy.

Apple uses a complex supply chain. Accessories for iPhone, iPad, iPod and Mac come 766 companies from 28 countries, 346 of which are located in China, 126 are in Japan, another 69 are based in the United States.

In the IV quarter of 2016 Apple occupies 10-e a place in the smartphone market in India, however, according to the company Counterpoint, it accounted for 62% of the premium segment of the market.
