Shareware battle Royale Apex Legends in the foreseeable future will continue to receive seasonal updates instead of weekly. This was told by CEO of Respawn Entertainment Vince Zampella (Vince Zampella).
Talking with Gamasutra, Zampella confirmed that the team had always intended to release seasonal updates, and it will continue to stick to the plan – mainly for the sake of ensuring quality working conditions.
“We have always adhered to a seasonal update, so like, stay with it. The idea was: “Hey, we have something explosive, whether we want to try to release more content?”. But I think it’s important to look at the quality of life of the team. We don’t want to overload the team and reduce the quality of assets produced. We want to try to raise it,” said Zampella.
Recall that Polygon recently published an article on excessively harsh conditions of labor in Epic Games – the blame for the great popularity of Fortnite. Employees work 60 to 100 hours a week to be on time to release updates for the Royal rumble. Many do not stand up and gone and in their place come fresh “body.”
CEO of Respawn Entertainment also discussed the future seasons. He admitted that the first was a bit simple-minded in terms of content. This issue will be addressed in the next season. “All the resources of the team are focused on how to make this game better, to play well, so we would have enough content to seasons were better,” said Zampella.
Apex Legends of conditionally free available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
