Another way to prolong youth

According to scientists, this discovery will potentially allow people to age more safely.

A group of British scientists managed to find a new way of rejuvenating senescent cells, contributing to the development of age-related diseases.

The researchers, led by Professor of the Department of molecular genetics of the Exeter University Lorna Harris has experienced the action of vegetable phenol of resveratrol and its analogs on the old human connective tissue cells — fibroblasts.

It is known that with aging in human tissues accumulate cells which have remained alive, cease to grow and to perform their functions. The congestion makes tissues and organs more susceptible to disease.

Scientists have found that resveratrol (found in red wine, dark chocolate, red grapes and other fruits) stimulates the activity of splicing factors — maturation mRNA. After using resveratrol aging cells began to rejuvenate — they have recovered the cycle and increased telomere length.

“This is the first step in trying to ensure that under normal extent of life people are less sick. Our results show that the use of chemical compounds can help restore the function of aging cells,” said Professor Harris.

According to scientists, this discovery will potentially allow people to age more safely. According to the researchers, the therapy based on the use of plant phenols will help to fight heart and cancer diseases, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
