The question of the allocation of funds for the construction of the repository will be considered in September.
The Corporation of foreign investment in the United States (Overseas Private Investment Corporation, OPIC) will consider the granting of national nuclear energy generating company Energoatom loan of $250 million for the construction of a repository for spent nuclear fuel.
This is evidenced by the agenda of the meeting of the Board of Directors OPIC.
Note that this question has been discussed earlier. So, in 2015, the President of Energoatom Yuriy Nedashkovsky has tried to attract funding for the construction of the vault at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Then it was on loan for 25 years at below 7% per annum.
Earlier it was reported that Energoatom has obtained a license to build a nuclear waste storage.
