Ryanair expects that the airport “Kiev” will reduce the airport tax, on average 60-80%.
International airport “Kiev” (Juliani) has temporarily suspended the dialogue with the largest European low-cost airline Ryanair.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the airport Denis Kostrzhevsky.
According to him, the reason for this is that Ryanair expects “Kiev” reduction in airport taxes in average of 60-80%, which in Ukraine is a regulated tariff. This fee also includes the cost of fuel, heating, staff salaries and so on.
According Kostrzhevskogo, the problem is that in Ukraine, unlike Europe, no government subsidies for airports.
“How can you give 80% or even 50% discount from that price, if the profitability of it contains only about 10%. It is economically disadvantageous. Respectively expressed by Ryanair waiting in the provision of discounts on airport services is fundamentally not coincide with our economic model of the airport. It is for this reason we have suspended negotiations, ” he explained.
