67-year-old Zoe Lucas (Zoe Lucas) lives in a wooden house on the canadian island of Sable, which is about 127 days per year fully covered with fog. Despite this, Zoe is perfectly comfortable on the island with an area of 34 square kilometers, feels like home, peace and quiet — with 400 horses, 300 thousands of grey seals and 350 species of different birds that keep her company.

Now, however, the researcher rarely returns to his hometown of Halifax in the canadian province of Nova Scotia and is completely dependent on food deliveries once a week. The island can be reached only by boat or Charter plane.

All day woman studying the ecology of the island and collects skulls of horses to help scientists understand how animals could adapt to a lifeless environment. Horses on the Isle of Sable was brought in the XVIII century for agricultural work. In 2013, Sable became a national nature reserve.

In four decades of living on the water’s Zoe which we only found on the beach — fridge, a box of fresh peppers from a shipping container, the frame from blown away balloon and even prosthesis.
