Inada denies all allegations of the opposition, but decided to resign.
The Minister of defense of Japan Tomomi Inada said that he had submitted his resignation after the scandal around the publication of Japanese peacekeepers in South Sudan.
The Minister announced the results of the investigation of the Ministry on the question of concealment from the public diary of peacekeepers in South Sudan and recognized that it revealed violations of the provisions on disclosure of documents.
At the same time, Inada, as before, stated that he did not know about the existence of the documents and did not give instructions about their concealment. However, the evidence of the Ministry saying that she was told about the real situation. This contradiction, including Inada explained the need for his resignation.
We will remind, in the fall of 2016, the opposition demanded that the defense Ministry of Japan show diary Japanese peacekeepers during the July large-scale clashes in South Sudan. The Ministry replied that the documents were destroyed by land forces.
Then the documents were discovered, but because of the contradictions of previous statements, was instructed to destroy them. Inada argues that such instructions were not given.
The opposition demanded to publish the diaries of the peacekeepers, as it believes that during the clashes in July last year, there was a direct threat to the life of Japanese soldiers.
The ruling party denies this, but just in case decided to terminate their activities in South Sudan.
