Remakes, sequels, prequels, vbokonly… We live in a time when filmmakers easier to rethink the classics, to remove the old hits again, or endlessly “milked” any franchise than to come up with an original project. Because the original project has more risks, and when the film has a background and the army of fans in the bargain – it’s somehow quieter. Viewers this trend is not particularly happy, it was seen in the review in the Area of horror. But sometimes the word “remake” does not want to roll my eyes and give a contemptuous “Phi”.
We have already reported that talented Robert Eggers, the Creator of one of the best horror of recent years (“Witch”), will deliver a remake of the classic horror film “Nosferatu: a Symphony of horror”. Informal (if not illegal) adaptation of “Dracula” by Bram Stoker for almost a hundred years, why not indeed try to “refresh”? Especially if at the helm of the project is a worthwhile person, who in 17 years had directed a play based on “Nosferatu.” Apparently, it’s fate.
The remake is not yet official name, but there was a first information on the caste. And according to reports by Variety, the film will star none other than Anya Taylor-joy! The young actress broke into the world of cinema precisely because of the “Witch” of Eggers, so in a sense, in debt to the Director. Since she managed to star in “split” from Shyamalan, subscribe to his sequel to role in kenogamissi “New mutants”… well, from little-known actress Anna slowly turns into a full-fledged star. And now the turn of a new challenge.
The production of “Nosferatu” is the company, Studio 8. Robert Eggers will speak not only the Director but also a screenwriter. Filming should begin in the first half of 2018. The release date is not yet known, but sooner 2019, the movie is not worth waiting.
