An amazing story of survival.

On the day of Christmas off the coast of reunion island (overseas territory of France) saved the pole, who is seven months drifted on the failed ship in the Indian ocean in the company of cats. The couple survived on rainwater, fish and soup noodles.

25 Dec small rescue boat noticed from the boat a short distance from the Reunion. The owner of the boat notified the coast guard, and to the fragile little ship sent ship that towed it to the island. On the boat found emaciated 54-year-old man and a cat.

The plans saved traveler named Zbigniew Racketeering was to reach the South African port of Durban to find a job there. At the end of may he sailed to South Africa from the Comoros on the old rescue boat, which itself was modified.

During the trip, the ship suddenly the engine failed, after which the man lost control of the boat. According to him, for he was carried to the coast of Somalia, Maldives, Indonesia, Mauritius. He saw the shore, but he was too far away to drop the boat and start swimming with a cat on his shoulders. And only after seven months of drift of the ship was carried to the shores of Reunion.

It’s not all the misadventures of the pole. Before long drift cat he survived many tests. Once Zbigniew has got us green card and moved to the United States, where he lived for about ten years. In 2014, he went to India to buy a big boat designed for cruise liners. It started with this his crazy journey.

Pole equipped the boat with a mast, rudder and motor, turning into a kind yacht. While he worked, the validity of a green card over. Racketeering could not return to the United States and decided to sail to Indonesia on their own. Along the way, the boat lost a mast and was carried in the opposite direction. Racket crossed the Indian ocean and reached the Comoros Islands, which lie between Africa and Madagascar.

The pole is held in the Comoros for two years. He managed to contact the Polish Embassy in Kenya, but there it was waited by disappointment.

“They didn’t want me to be repatriated, says the Racketeering. — Gave 150 Euro and that’s all.”
20 may 2017 restless traveler decided to sail to South Africa. He was loaded onto the boat a month’s supply of instant Chinese noodles, took a cat named Samira, which is tied to him for two years on the island, and again out to sea.

All the long months of drifting on the East and Samira fed on rainwater, fish and instant noodles. The traveler had no means of communication. But even seven months in the Indian ocean in the company of cats did not break a sailor — he plans to fix the boat on the island of reunion and continue the journey to Poland. But while the rescuers sent Racketeering in the hospital due to severe exhaustion. The fate of the cat is not reported.
