ZTE has canceled a fundraiser for its new smartphone Hawkeye held on Kickstarter. The reason for the collapse of the fishing rods was the dissatisfaction of the leadership of the Chinese vendor’s results this campaign.
Yes, ZTE Hawkeye can really be attributed to the family of the failed startups, but it has its own reasons — the company tried to begin production of the handset with not very powerful by today’s standards hardware, and that modern users don’t need, especially those who have already joined the sect “Witnesses Saami” and are happy to use quality cell phones from Xiaomi. In ZTE Hawkeye was planned to integrate 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB ROM, camera 12+13 MP rear and 8 MP front processor with a clock frequency of 2 GHz eight cores. All fed from battery capacity of 3000 mAh, which is clearly insufficient for this configuration, despite the support for fast charging.
The screen of the smartphone was suggested to do Full HD with a diagonal of 5.5 inches, so the only competitive advantage ZTE Hawkeye would be its stickiness, and in the truest sense — in the photo it can be clearly seen. And Yes, the phone was planned to teach them to track eye movement, but this functionality is not enough to make it work. In the end, instead of the requested $500 000 had accumulated only about $40 000 and the project is temporarily frozen — ZTE will soon introduce an updated version of the smartphone with a more interesting filling.
