18 Ryanair cancels thousands of flights

The second stage of cancellation of flights by Ryanair increases the number of affected passengers more than doubled – up to 700 thousand people.

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair announced the cancellation of 400 thousand bookings from November 2017 to March 2018.

Daily the airline will cancel about 25 flights until March 2018. This step in the opinion of management Ryanair, “eliminate” all the risk of subsequent cancellations.

Affected passengers will receive a voucher for flights in the EUR 40. This will allow them to book tickets on any Ryanair flight from October to March 2018.

Today already cancelled over 200 flights that were heading to/from London Stansted airport, and a small number in Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham.

Earlier it was reported that Ryanair is to cancel about 50 flights daily until October this year. In the company explain this step weather conditions, strike of dispatchers and accumulated vacations for pilots. To enable its pilots to rest, the company went on such an unprecedented step. Foreign experts have estimated the damages to Ryanair in $35 million that will be spent on compensation to passengers.

In turn, foreign media write that the reasons for cancellations are not real. It is assumed that the real reason for the cancellation of a large number of flights associated with the shortage of pilots in the company.

This information was also confirmed by the pilots themselves, which referred to the “inhuman” working conditions. According to them, the company offered a substantial prize (£12 thousand for commanders and £6 million for the first pilots) in exchange for the guarantee to remain until October 2018.
