16-year-old American died from an overdose of caffeine

Presumably 16-year-old student consumed about 470 mg of caffeine in just two hours.

Sixteen-year-old teenager from the U.S. state of South Carolina died from too rapid consumption of multiple drinks with high caffeine content, has set a post-mortem examination.

The tragedy happened in April during school hours. Davis kripa suddenly lost consciousness and died.

As found by post-mortem examination before his death the teenager had a latte from McDonald’s, a large soft drink Mountain Dew and some energy. All three drinks he’d consumed in just two hours.

Cause of death experts called “caffeine-induced cardiac event probably led to the arrhythmia”.
The young man had not had a heart diseases, and although its 16 years, Davis weighed in at 90 kg, it was not registered as suffering from obesity, said coroner Gary watts.

“It’s not an overdose of caffeine said watts in an interview with Reuters. – It’s not about the amount of caffeine in the body, and that the teen used it for a short period of time, energy has become the last straw that caused cardiac arrhythmia,” – said the coroner.

Perhaps the caffeine would not call one of the reasons for the death of a teenager, if I had known what kind of energy drink he drank before his death, says watts.

The main witness could not specify the name of the energy drink, saying only that the Bank was a large amount.

“We do not advocate a complete ban of caffeine – said the coroner – but people need to monitor his consumption – just as in the case of alcohol or cigarettes.”

The American Academy of Pediatrics warns that the ingredients of energy drinks has not been tested on children and “no one can guarantee their safety”.

Doctors say that energy side effects, including causing arrhythmia and jumps in blood pressure.

One serving of most energy drinks contain the caffeine equivalent of three cups of coffee and 14 teaspoons of sugar, reminds the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Presumably Davis creep consumed about 470 mg of caffeine in just two hours.

According to the site caffeineinformer.com one latte from McDonald’s contains 142 mg of caffeine, a half-liter soda bottle Mountain Dew – 90 mg and a large Bank energy up to 240 mg.

Scientists from the Mayo clinic in Minnesota – one of the world’s largest medical centers – is considered a safe daily dose for most healthy adults is 400 mg of caffeine.

In 2015 the European Agency for food safety said that eating more than 400 mg of caffeine a day can lead to tachycardia, increased blood pressure, arrhythmia, tremor, nervousness, insomnia and panic attacks.
