“I accept all these difficulties, because I want to, so they can go to school. I would like to earn enough to have enough food for the family and notebooks and pens for the nurses,” says Mansour.
The mother of Mansour is at home, she has three younger sons. Her husband died very young, so she was left alone with the children.
“When my son returns home later, I’m worried. I know he will bring food for my children,” says the woman.
Sometimes Mansour is upset that he cannot fully help the family.
“Sometimes when I bring little money, I say to the sisters: “Today I brought for food and clothing — some other time.” I sometimes get upset that can’t provide for them,” admits the boy.
One of his sisters says that he goes to school because Mansour wants her to get an education.
“My brother says, “You have to go to school, it’s nothing, let me remain illiterate,” says the girl.
According to authorities, over 1.2 million children in Afghanistan earn physical labor.
