Maxim, Gerasko dismissed for “incompetence”.
Obolonskiy district court of Kiev withdrew from the process state lawyer of former President Viktor Yanukovych Maxim, Gerasko, finding him unable to protect.
Gerasko, in comments to journalists said that this process needs a statistician, not a lawyer.
“I read the material from beginning to end and did all the actions according to the legislation of Ukraine. The court has deprived me of this possibility. The court has deprived of the ability to protect the client… This is the second lawyer who are not satisfied with the court. I have performed my professional duties according to the oath of an attorney, as the law requires. All my predecessors, considering a paid lawyer, also performed their duties according to law. But no one is satisfied with the court, because here want to see the statistics,” he said.
Gerasimo believes that this process is unfair and has no prospects.
Prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko said that he was not entitled to comment on the court decision. But at the same time, he acknowledged that Gerasim did everything possible to delay the process. The Prosecutor expressed hope that the Centre of free legal aid will appoint to process a new professional counsel.

6 July 2017 Yanukovych via Russian media said that will no longer participate in the trial in the case of treason and withdraws his defenders on him. He suggests that the decision of the Obolon court predetermined his sentence to life imprisonment.
