Flax seeds protect from the terrible disease
Eating Flaxseed may help reduce the risk of death from breast cancer at a later age by 40 percent, scientists say.
All due to the fact that some grains and vegetables contain special plant compounds, the phytoestrogens, the most important of which are lignans.
Scientists have discovered that these compounds are able to destroy cancer cells and prevent secondary tumours by stopping the growth of new cells. Particularly high levels of lignans has been found in flax seed.
They can be sprinkled on cereal or salads, added to cakes or mixed with yogurt. Study author Professor Jenny Chang-Claude of the German cancer research Center in Heidelberg says: “we Now have first clear evidence that lignans not only reduce the risk of developing breast cancer after menopause, but the risk of mortality”.
Diet rich in products of wheat flour, flax seeds and vegetables that promote health in any way, helps to obtain a sufficient amount of lignans, writes the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
