Over time, the form has changed.

School uniforms and the need for it remains one of the most contentious issues, both among parents and in the schools. And I must say that this topic is still not closed.

Even before the establishment of Soviet power on the territory of Ukraine, pupils of grammar schools was supposed to wear a set of educational institutions a school uniform. Boys school outfits looked rather like a military uniform. Girls at that time had to wear a brown dress, and black and white apron.

Already in 1918, the school uniform was canceled. Then, after the events of 1914-1918, the country was in a state of ruin. The authorities did not consider it necessary to oblige the children to go to school in the same clothes. Therefore, students are allowed to attend the class that they had.

The binding form has returned to Ukrainian schools only at the end of the Second world war. Then it was more like the form that children were obliged to wear in tsarist Russia. As now, at the time, school uniforms were purchased the most by parents for each of the children. However, if the financial situation in the family was not allowed to buy form children, the government tried to help.

Already in the 1960-ies of the school uniform began to take a semblance of a modern school clothes.

Immediately after the collapse of the Soviet Union a mandatory form in schools was canceled. However, she returned to educational institutions in the middle of the 90s. at First it was cherry and green jackets. The girls were supposed to be plaid skirts, and the boys black pants.

After 2000, the year in Ukrainian schools back form the classic black and blue color.

At the same time, as you know, each institution is free to choose the color and style of uniforms for their students. Many schools, lyceums and grammar schools now also have specific patches for uniforms with their coats of arms or badges with symbols.
