What is dangerous riding at low revs

At lower rpm it is appropriate to move or on an empty highway or in traffic.

The logic of many drivers who believe that driving at lower rpm saves fuel, reduces approximately to the following: rotates slower than the crankshaft of the engine at a given speed, the less fuel is required. Whether so it actually?

Logic seems to be very clear: when the low speed movement of the crankshaft in the cylinders burn less fuel, which provides more gentle operation of the power unit. However, when trying to accelerate from low revs the engine gets a dose of excess fuel and simply bogged down, as the mixture to fully burn in time.

Moreover, such a breakthrough does not occur timely ignition of the mixture; the detonation occurs, the formed soot in the combustion chamber, clogged injectors, stronger engine heats up. Even sadder is the fact that the dynamic start with a low speed greatly increases the load on the piston, and in this case, from under the hood sometimes you can hear the distinctive knock.

The vibrations caused by the detonation, had a devastating impact not only on the shafts of the motor, but the bearings, gearbox and clutch. Quickly just wearing out the pistons and crankshaft bearings.

Engine speed depends on the pressure created by the oil pump. At the bottom modes it is reduced, and, of course, the engine parts are lubricated worse. And what will cause oil starvation to the power unit, I understand perfectly.

Contrary to popular belief, the low speed of the engine increases sharply appetite in connection with the need for additional enrichment of the mixture, and it is easy to check the sensor instantaneous fuel consumption. In the end, if you do not hurry to switch the transmission to the level below, the machine is essentially lost in the dynamics, acceleration and sometimes altogether disappearing. In an emergency, the car may stall, and all of this threatens a serious accident.

So at lower rpm it is appropriate to move or on an empty highway or in traffic, when the traffic situation does not require emergency acceleration. And if there is a need to give gas, do not be lazy to switch the transmission to the level below. Recall that the optimal range of naturally aspirated gasoline engines amounts to approximately 2500-3500 rpm, and it is desirable that the tachometer needle is “walked” in these limits.
