According to him, language is just a tool and they need to use it.
Russian speaking people in Ukraine need support, since otherwise they would cease to associate themselves with the state.
This was stated by the artist Alexander Roitburd, in his interview to the “observer”.
“All my life I was speaking Russian. And although I had no problem to learn Ukrainian, but psychologically it is difficult and uncomfortable to move to the Ukrainian house, at home, with friends, alone. I have it just will not work, even if I really want to. And if I try, it may affect my abilities to produce meanings and statements, because in Russian to me it is easier and more natural, and Ukrainian I sound forced. I think that same problem, even with complete loyalty to Ukraine, there are tens of millions of people. I mean the urban educated population, educated in Russian. Not the bargain part of Ukrainian society. Not to understand these things is just stupid. People who grew up in Ukrainian regions, the Ukrainian-language environment, receiving Russian language with the rejection, I just can’t imagine that someone with the same rejection can take Ukrainian. They think that it is enough to say: “And now we talk in Ukrainian!” and everything will be happy. But it’s not. Ousting the Russian language from Ukraine – it is natural and inevitable. But adults that have formed in Russian-speaking environment, will not go to the Ukrainian”, – says the artist.
According to him, language is just a tool and they need to use it.
“There are millions of people who are Pro-Ukrainian meanings are expressed in Russian, perceive more loyal than all the same, it is written in Ukrainian. If they don’t speak the language in which they speak with their loved ones at home, these people feel that the government has forgotten about them. They unconsciously cease to identify themselves with the state. And this is not good,” summed up Roitburd.
